If there's one thing that's kept me sane over the last month of being quarantined - it's definitely been diving into a good movie. Sometimes it's with my daughter, or sometimes it's by myself. Luckily, over the weekend I was able to sit down and enjoy a movie with both my daughter and my husband. I'm here to give you my review of Onward - the newest addition to Disney+ streaming service! I'm going to include a link at the bottom in case you're more of a DVD type person than a streaming service type person 😊

I've been looking forward to seeing this movie since I first saw the preview. The key ingredient to this movie is one of my all time favorite actors, Chris Pratt. I mean, c'mon.

Not only is he good looking, but he's hilarious in just about everything he does. So I was already ready to see this (even if I didn't actually get to see him in the movie). I'm such a sucker for Disney movies, I have been all my life. If you're unaware of what I'm even talking about, here's a quick plot intro.

Two boys and their mother live in a land that used to be filled with magic. Unfortunately times were modernized and magic no longer became "useful" in their world. On the younger brother's 16th birthday, his movie gives him a present from his father - a magic staff with a spell that would bring their father back for 24 hours. Unfortunately when casting the spell, things go terribly wrong and they're only able to bring him back from the waist down! The two brothers then go on a quest together to figure out how to bring the rest of them back. #bringsometissues

This film was fantastically made. There was such a perfect combo of comedy, adventure, sadness, and of course the everlasting happy ending. I cried quite a few times (both happy tears and sad tears), but maybe I'm just a sap. What I will say is this - it kept my five year old entertained for the entire movie which is actually pretty hard to do. I would 100% recommend this film for families and children of all ages. The magical and mystical aspect of the film is great for entertaining toddlers and young children, and the plot and adventure is great for entertaining those pre-teens and even young adults. It's fun for the whole family. I can't wait to watch it again!

If you've already watched it with your family, tell me what you thought of it! I'd love to hear other opinions on it, and I'd really love to hear anything I missed (I'm always hunting for Disney Easter Eggs!!) Thanks for joining me on Movie Review Monday!

P.S. Here's the link to purchase a copy of Onward on Blu-Ray and DVD if you don't currently subscribe to Disney+!
